The crit has left me feeling a bit lost, I definately didnt do my idea any favours when it came to presenting. But now I’m not really sure what I need to do to finish. I know I need to finish my zine but I dont know what that step is. They said something about making sure the message is clear but I’m not sure how I do that. Maybe i should get a tutorial and discuss it.
He said that my concept is quite strong and suggested that maybe it take an old school work book style of paper stock n cover. Also moving the scene setting part to the very start, like a preface. Then having fun with type play and experiments and commentary afterwards making up the contents, but also breaking that up with small bits of information or responses.
is a satirical publication inspired by changes that government or other governing bodies impose from a top down perspective where the opinions of the public or people they are effecting are unheard or disregarded illustrating how out of touch the government are. Using my own experiences and opinions aswell, it depicts the responses from the public.
Following last weeks tutorial, it was suggested that I revert back to my initial concept of looking at how punctuation enhances a message or helps to communicate or mis-communicate it.
In the first 2 I took something that people might say to emphasize how cold it is. But then I tried to turn it into a subtext. So if someone says just says that it is cold, the over use of exclamation points unlocks that meaning.
The 3rd image compares how punctuation changes the tone and how the message is read. By having an exclamation point and removing the upper part and turning it into an outline makes it possible to read it in 2 ways. So in this example when you read it with the fullstop the ‘wow’ becomes quite sarcastic or uninterested, but when read with the exclamation point you get a positive emphasis when reading it.
In my 1 to 1 tutorial it was suggested that the comparison could be a method of creating imagery. Comparing other grammatical and punctuation uses to illustrate the importance of it.
